City Bikes – Frame
Basic city bikes usually look like classic bikes that are equipped with wider road bike tyres and have mudguards, chain covers and a rear luggage carrier (rack). Most common frame model looks like a ladies bike frame – without the top tube for easy access. Sure there are many other frame models too and one of the other common ones is a hybrid bike frame.

Wheels are usually little wider than road bike wheels and narrower than mountain bike wheels. This gives a city bike a good grip to the road and holes and dimples on the road do not feel as bad as they do when hitting them with a road bike. City bikes do not need so many gears so the basic 3-5 geared hubs are quite common. These gears last long without any special maintenance and the best of all, the chains will stay on better that a cassette type of gearing in a bumpy city roads.
When the bike has hub gears it usually has a pedal brake too. Pedal brake is easy to use and effective enough in slower speeds.
